Riverside Kava Bar cut the ribbon on July 11, 2026 at 1275 King Street in Riverside, Jacksonville. A UV-lit room, a long bar, booths for the group and a stage corner for trivia, open mic and Magic nights. No alcohol on the premises, open 11AM to 2AM every day, free wifi all day.
None. Kava is a root steeped in water. Nothing in the drink is fermented or distilled, and Riverside Kava Bar does not serve alcohol at all.
Most people describe it as the calm of a drink without the fog. You stay present and can hold a conversation. Your mouth will tingle and go slightly numb for a minute or two. That is the kavalactones, and it means the batch is good.
One shell, then twenty minutes before you decide about a second. Kava builds rather than hitting all at once. Eat something beforehand.
Kava can slow your reactions and affect coordination, and how strongly it hits varies by person and by batch. If you feel it, do not drive. Plan the ride home the way you would after a couple of drinks.
We serve noble kava root prepared with water, which is how it has been drunk in the South Pacific for generations. Talk to your doctor first if you have a liver condition, drink alcohol regularly, or take sedatives, anti-anxiety medication or anything that carries a liver warning. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, skip it.
